New Video

Brett is getting so good at putting the shapes into the right hole. He is also learning how to build with blocks (not just knock them down). We can get a few words from him too like ball, da da, and ma ma. Kristin just taught him how to roar like a tiger so I will definetly try to get that on video.

Learning and more learning

Had a great time last weekend. Especially, since I had Monday off. On Friday we met up with the neighbors at a cool local restaurant that overlooks the local indoor hockey rinks. We ate and drank and had a good time watching the kids make a mess. I'm sure we will be back there because Brett liked watching the kids skate around the rink and there was lots of room to crawl around.

It was nice because I had Monday off for MLK day so Brett and I woke up and went downtown Chelsea for coffee and doughnuts. We gave Kristin a break and in the afternoon and it was off to Jungle Java (an indoor playground). Brett and I played in the toddler area with all the other little kids. It was packed because of the holiday. Brett was making all kinds of girlfriends that were all older than him. He even went down the slide all by himself with a smile on his face the whole time. A quick stop at Grandma and Grandpa's and we were back home. Believe it or not we went back out that night to Ann Arbor for restaurant week at Conor O'neil's. Great deals on meals for two in many restaurants downtown. Brett always seems to ham it up when we go out and last night was no exception. Ran into another couple with a 11 month old and compared notes. Overall, another busy but fun weekend.

January Fun

The winter can't keep us down! We have been having fun inside and out in the snow. Last week Brett had his 1 year check-up and all went well. He is in about the 40th percentile for both weight and height. A little down from last time, as expected, because he is becoming more active. Our boy is an explorer for sure. The doctor said his birthmark is getting lighter and should disappear over time as they had originally told us. It was funny because he was kind of showing off to his doctor by mimicking her, babbling, and waving at her. No walking yet but the doctor agreed that he is getting close. Yesterday, Brett had to get his blood drawn for a lead and iron test. This is typical for 1 year olds. Unfortunately, the nurse could not get a good vein and he will have to go back again in a few months to try again. Brett was a prince from what I hear.

This past weekend, we took Brett to the Hands On Museum in Ann Arbor. Brett's Grandparents Cindy and Dennis got us a family pass for Christmas. The museum has a cool toddler room where Brett played with the water on the water table and explored all the cool toys.

Today I was able to take some time off and went to the library here in Chelsea with Kristin and Brett for Baby Time. They sing songs, read books, and play with toys. After that Kristin took Brett to the mall for even more fun. Like I said, the cold is not stopping the fun.

Having fun with Grandpa

Happy New Year! We are finally settled back in Chelsea after a great time in WI! So glad we could spend a week with the Grandparents and the extended family. Brett was truly spoiled with all the love. He got many birthday and Christmas presents. Can't believe he now is 1 years old. It feels like since he has turned 1 he is getting so much bigger and developing at a faster rate. Thank you to everyone for making the clear distinction bewteen his birthday and Xmas. Brett may not know the difference yet but it is important to us to start early separting the two celebrations. Outside of being loaded with presents Brett had fun sledding, playing pinball with Grandpa, hanging out with his Great Aunts, exploring new houses, and playing with his birthday balloon and eating cupcakes. This was in addition to the presents at his Grandma and Grandpa Marr's before we left!
