A boy and his Trucks

The pictures say it all --- Brett LOVES his sandbox and he would probably stay there all day if we let him. And, the best part of all is that he can dig in the dirt with HIS TRUCKS!!! What could be better than that? His small motor skills and imagination never cease to amaze me.

maticulously shoveling the sand into his dump truck. Very serious work.

"I think it needs just a little bit more"

Brett then decided to use the edge as a road and drive the truck back and forth (while making the vroom vroom sound of course!). Too cute for words!!

And then it was time to add another truck and, of course, add some more dirt!

First Zoo trip and acting silly!

Last Thursday Kyle took the day off work and we took Brett to the zoo for the very first time! We all had a blast and Brett LOVED seeing all the animals - AND all the kids!!! There was lots of pointing and lots of 'serious face' as you could see his little mind going to town trying to figure out the magic of all the animals :)

WOW! This is so much fun and I am so happy!

"Mom! Look at the Rhino!"

Brett was not going to take his eyes away from those lions for anything, not even a picture :)

For some reason Brett is going through a stage where he likes to put stuff on his head -- and today it was stickers! :)

He worked very hard to peel them off the paper and then stick them on his head just in the right place.

And eventually, he decided to forgo the actual stickers and just balance the sticker paper on his head instead :) He thought he was pretty cool and we did too!

Sharon Mills

These are a little overdue as we were here a couple of weekends ago, but thought I would share some pics from Sharon Mills (where we got married). It was a beautiful day so we brought some food and I brought my fishing pole. Brett loved running around the park with all the bridges and the water. Unfortunately, they cut some trees down from when we got married but it still is a great park. Brett and I had a few nibbles on our pole but we didn't catch anything. I know Grandpa Marr likes to see him holding that fishing rod!

Chillin' with mama

And only 4 years ago, Kristin and I had a wedding picture taken on this bridge

Sandbox is finished!

El sandbox

The guy at the landscape supply place told me to "drive slow!"

In the truck

Who needs a sandbox when I got this !

Checkin it out

Showing Abby the ropes

It's finally done! After taking twice as long to build as I thought, I finished Brett's sandbox last weekend. It's 6 X 6 and has plenty of room for him to dig, explore, and add a few friends. If I had a $ everytime someone asked me if I was going to cover it, I would be rich. Ironically, I never remember our sandbox as a kid being covered. I'm guessing both my brother and I shared one big litter box with the neighborhood cats. Looking forward to enjoying the sandbox with Brett more and more this summer. I think we picked a great spot for it too!

Daddy's Helper

Brett has been loving getting outside and playing. He also likes to mimic what I am doing and "help" daddy out. After a storm I like to pick up the branches in the yard and Brett is always right behind me picking up the "Brett-sized" sticks and giving them to me to put in a pile. What a great helper! When I get out the tools is when he gets really excited, like in the video.

A Brett story I have to share.....recently Kristin and him got a balloon at the grocery store and brought it home. Well, I took it outside with him to show him the magic of helium. The look on his face was hilarious. He just had this puzzled look and kept pointing to the sky. I guess the first time you let go of something and it goes up would both scare and amaze me too!

He's added some new words like dog, ant, and dirt, and now he has been nodding his head when we ask him if he wants to do something. When they were at the library today, Kristin asked him if he was ready to leave and he did the nod and went to the door. Such a big boy !

Family pics, jewels, and more!

I had an AMAZING Mother's Day with Kyle, Brett, and my parents, and realize more and more every day how very blessed I am! I couldn't ask for anything more. Here are some pictures from the day. Enjoy!!!

Our family :)

My mom brought over a "treasure chest" for Brett to explore full of "jewels" that she has saved over the years. He may be all boy, but surely couldn't resist all the shine and sparkles!

"WOW! Is this all for me?!"

Another family photo on this beautiful day!

Brett and Grandma reading together and talking about the animals. He loves his grandma SO much!!!!

Now it's time to read with Papa!!!

ALL BOY

There is no doubt that Brett is ALL BOY! His favorite activities include playing with his cars, playing and digging in the dirt, exploring, and making a mess ANYWHERE he goes :) And, I swear, he could LIVE outside!!!

Watching a plane fly by! SO cool!

Gotta love that smile :-)

A boy and his cars = One happy toddler!
