Cub Scout Camp!

Earlier this summer, Brett and Kyle spent the weekend together at Cub Scout Camp. They had both been looking forward to this adventure for a long time and they had so much fun! They slept in tents, went on hikes, did many activities, and of course, swam in the lake! We were a little unsure how Brett would do with all the stimulation and basically no down time.....but he surprised us both by absolutely loving it and joining right in with the other kids. I'm so glad he has found an extracurricular activity that he enjoys so much and both Kyle and Brett are already looking forward to a new school year of cub scout activities!

Brett and one of his buddies stop long enough for a photo op :-)

Another "cheese" moment before the next game of Ga Ga Ball!

Playing Ga Ga Ball....Kyle said that Brett did a great job and had lots of fun!

Go Brett!

Taking a break in the tent on one of the luxurious cots they had to sleep on (sense the sarcasm there?). At least they didn't have to sleep on the ground, I guess!

Doing a finger print activity.

Brett and some fellow scouts listening intently to some directions for the next activity....

Learning how to tie knots!

And lastly, a selfie of two out of three of my favorite boys!

Kyle doesn't take nearly as many pictures as I do (if at all!), so I was happy he captured a few of the fun moments they had together that weekend!  Kyle is such an amazing dad and I love watching him and Brett's bond grow even stronger as they experience new things, just the two of them.

The Kid Zone and our Party!

The Sounds and Sights Festival was last weekend, an event we always look forward to and love about our town! There is live music, a car show, an art market, and a super fun Kid Zone for all the children to enjoy. We started out the fun Friday morning by heading to the Kid Zone to check everything out. Camden spotted the fire truck right away and insisted that we go there first :-) He was so excited to get his very own helmet and sit in the truck all by himself! As I saw the wonder and amazement in his eyes, I couldn't help but feel all giddy inside too! Living life through the eyes of a toddler is one of my favorite things :-)

Another highlight was the "Creatures in Jars" presentation put on by the Eddy Discovery Center. Brett sat up  front and just couldn't get enough of these little guys (insects, snakes, toads, a salamander, etc)!

After the presentation, the kids got to make their own little habitat for their very own potato bug to take home! I think that was Brett's favorite part :-)

The potato bug lived in his room for about a day, and then Brett decided he should let him go :-)

That evening, we hosted our first annual festival weekend party! Most years, the cars for the car show overflow on to our street, so that is what prompted our decision to have a get together. We thought it would be fun to look at all the cars, and people watch from our front yard and porch! But, due to the rain in the forecast, there were less cars than usual this year so they didn't make it on to our street. We still had a blast though and plan to continue this tradition every year! We had yard games, a quarter barrel of Oberon, lots of good food....and Kyle even put together a scavenger hunt for all the kids (which I wish I took pictures of!).

Sweet baby Sophia who is turning one soon!

My dad in deep conversation with some of Kyle's work buddies who live in Chelsea too!

Love this guy!

At one point, Camden insisted on sitting in one of the big chairs so he could ham it up with my dad and Claire! He may be into everything these days, but he sure is fun!

My parents :-) So thankful for all my mom's help with Camden so I could have a break!

Towards the end of the evening, I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of Brett yet. When I asked him to smile, this is what happened..."You have to catch me first!"

Eventually, Kyle caught him and I get this huge smile :-) He had such a great night with all of his friends!

I thought Camden was getting tired when he pulled one of his favorite blankets out on the porch to snuggle with.........

But seconds later he was off again....this time, wanting to walk Vicky's little dog, Rosie. He is the energizer bunny, I swear!

We had such a great night and are so thankful for such great friends!
