New Pictures

Brett is getting so big. Can't wait until Tuesday when he has his 2 month check-up to see how much he weighs. Kristin and I have bets on how much. Lots of healthy baby fat for Brett! Smiles are also coming faster and more often. Yesterday Kristin and Brett met me for lunch where we went out to Qdoba. Last night was a super gassy night for Brett. My guess it was due to the nachos Kristin had. Lesson learned on that one. Going over to our friends house tonight in Ann Arbor and then meeting another couple for lunch on Sunday so we are definetly getting out of the house. Still wished it was warmer.

Hanging Out

Yesterday Brett was officially 2 months old. He has found his little hands (putting them together) and his tongue which he swirls around in his mouth. It looks like the hair on the top of his head is growing back too, but we are still unsure what color it is going to be. This morning he gave me this smile that must have lasted at least 30 seconds! His neck is stronger too as you can see below....

More Updates

Some new things that Brett has been doing is that he has found his little hands. He'll make a fist and then try to put it in his mouth and suck on it. Also, he has begun to smile more. I'm hoping I can capture one on video. Cooing while he is hanging out has become a favorite pastime as well. Having a little trouble uploading videos today, so I will try again later. Oh, and if you notice a lot of grammar errors on these posts, please forgive me, typing has never been my specialty.

Update

Brett is getting so big! He did sleep 4 hours last night which was awesome, but he also isn't a big fan of naps during the day. It seems he likes being an active baby. Kristin took him to her Dad's work today and he apparently was hamming it up for all the ladies there. We are figuring out the cries too where one = "I'm hungry" and another = "I've got some bad gas".

People have asked me about his birthmark and it is called a hemangioma. It did get a little bigger and darker but should start to fade in a year to two years. Laser surgery is not reccomended and should hopefully fade over the years. The doctor and us aren't too worried about it and just want to watch that is doesn't get any closer to his eye. We love him so much and don't really notice it anymore.

Tomorrow I will post a good video of some of Brett's baby talk.

In the Nursery

Thanks to all for the Valentine's gifts and cards for Brett. He is very loved! I read every card out loud to him. Just been hanging out here in Chelsea. I was going to take Brett downtown in the stroller yesterday but we got 4" of snow. At least I have Monday off (President's Day) to spend a long weekend with him. Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day!

Dad's Corner

Brett just turned 7 weeks yesterday. Still not used to going by weeks, especially since it is confusing in that there isn't always 4 weeks in a month. Anyway, all is good in the Bingham household. Brett is starting to hold up his neck more and really is close to giving us all kinds of big smiles. We see little ones every now and then. Yesterday, I had to buy him new pj's because he is out growing everything. We have his two month appt. soon so it will be interesting to get his latest weight. Sleep is getting a little better as we are figuring him out. I am very proud of Kristin in that she is still breastfeeding. I can't imagine being always on demand like that. It makes you understand why only 30% of woman exclusively breastfeed at 3 months. In other words, it's hard and takes a lot of patience and support! The benefits though can't be denied.

With all the news lately about the woman from CA with 14 kids I wonder how she will be able to manage? Maybe she can give some away to couples who can't concieve! My other rant is the overload of information on the web and in books on how to raise your child, immunizations, sleep habits, etc. It's kind of overwhelming and rarely says the same thing. Kristin and I try to educate ourselves the best we can and hope we are doing what is best for Brett.

Lastly, we are finding out that Brett really likes baths and he is a big fan of his bouncy seat. The crib I think to him is a big scary open space. As he gets bigger I'm sure he will get more used to it and spend more naps there. Anyway, getting bigger means more outfits that he can fit into.....so I will try to snap away.

Dad's Corner

Having fun being a dad! Last night Brett was being real fussy and it was so funny, I went in his room...turned on a little classic rock (CCR), and he instantly stopped crying. Kristin can't believe it either. Apparently lullabys don't work but rock and roll does. I also played my guitar last night for him while he was sleeping. Before I forget, it is funny the nicknames parents come up with. The following are some we have been using:

Brettski
BZB
Boo
Bugaboo

I'm looking forward to spending the weekend with him. Maybe this warm weather on the way (40s) will allow us to take a walk with him in the stroller. That is if all this snow melts!

Dad's Corner

Had a great weekend with Brett. He seemed to be less fussy and more adhering to a schedule. On Sunday our friends came over who have a 1 year old. It was a good lesson in what to expect because Owen was walking and "exploring" the whole house. In other words, we'll cherish these days were he isn't running around and is only 10 lbs. For the Super Bowl the family just hungout and dined on junk food. Brett was tired so we put him in the bouncy seat and he slept most of the time. This morning I got up with him before work and he slept on my stomach as I watched TV. It's fun to watch him make smily faces in his sleep. Can't believe how big he is getting too. There are actually outfits that he is out growing. We'll save them for the next baby (or for any cousins on the way). Somehow Kristin remembers who he got every outfit from. Must be a mother thing. Anyway, I'll try to put up more pictures tomorrow.
