There is no doubt that fishing is my dad's passion. Usually one of the first things out of my dad's mouth when we see him is a story about a good fishing spot he found...or the huge Blue Gill he caught....or how he wants to take Brett fishing with him :-) Brett has heard all the stories, seen all the pictures, and even helped my dad tie fly's for fly fishing....so he was more than ready to go out and try to catch one on his own and see what all the excitement was about. A couple weekends ago, Kyle headed to AA to spend the afternoon tailgating and watching soccer in the Big House. I wanted to find something fun for Brett and I to do that day...but what? Then the thought came to my mind...fishing! I called my dad up and he was in! He was so excited to get Brett his very own fishing pole and tackle box and stopped by our house first to show Brett his new "toys". When I told Brett earlier in the day that we were going fishing with Papa AND having a bon fire at our neighbors house that evening, he excitedly looked up at me and said "this is going to be the best day ever!". So cute :-)
As soon as we got to Cavanaugh lake, Brett eagerly ran to the water with anticipation for the fun to begin!
But first things first...checking out the bait!
Brett stood back while my dad put the worm on his hook. He didn't want any part of that!
Then it was time! Brett didn't want to go very deep and was hesitant at times (like when he reeled in his first fish and it was moving around so much it almost crashed into him!), but he definitely enjoyed his first real fishing experience. Together, him and my dad caught at least 7 or 8 fish, so it was definitely a successful day!
My dad showing Brett how to reel in when he caught a fish :-)
And....he caught one! Keep reeling!
Go Brett!
Here they are showing off the first fish that Brett caught!
"Look at the Seagull!"
My little fisherman :-)
Love these pics of my dad in his element :-) Not sure who had more fun, Brett or my dad!
Thanks for the great afternoon, dad! Brett can't wait to go again!
