Silver Lake!

We made our first trip to Silver Lake last weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we seriously had the best time!!! Both boys were fish in the water and wouldn't even come out to eat dinner! Seeing them both so happy filled my heart with so much joy. Their age difference can be challenging at times because they are into different things, but then there are times like this, when we are doing something together that we all love. Those are the times I can honestly say, 'my cup runneth over'! My parent's had a wonderful time too, and I realized again that day just how lucky we are to have them live so close by to us. They are here for us always, and I truly don't know what we would do without them! I love you mom and dad!!

See that smile? It never left Brett's face!

We've nixed the formal swim lessons because they make Brett too anxious....but now he is bound and determined to learn to swim on his own and is constantly asking for pointers and trying to get better!

The smile that melts my heart.

Camden thought he had died and gone to Heaven with all the sand and water he was surrounded by!

And he had no fear at all!

Camden loved running up and down the little hill to and from the water!

My big fish practicing his kicking!

And my little fish sitting still for a short second....

Until he saw his big brother and eagerly went after him!

Oh how I love these two!!!

Notice Kyle's tight grip on Camden's arm?

He had already swallowed half the lake by this point and we were trying to keep him from diving in for more!

After playing in the sand and water for over 2 hours, the boys finally came out to eat a snack and dry off!

Summer is officially here!! Woo Hoo!

Field Day and the Last Day of School!

Wow, did this year fly by or what! I honestly cannot believe that come September, we will have a second grader on our hands! Brett struggled a little more this year and some of his quirks became more apparent, but because of the amazing staff at North Creek, we all got through it together. I can honestly say that we couldn't have hand picked a more caring or dedicated teacher for Brett than Mrs. Weid. She communicated regularly with us on how Brett was doing, was a constant cheerleader, showing him and us how proud she was of him every time he made personal strides, and most importantly, never gave up on him. The social worker, Mrs. Yu, was another amazing asset to Brett this year, and we are beyond grateful for the support she gave him and our family. Brett worked hard this year and we are so proud of all he has learned and accomplished!

There are always so many fun activities the last few weeks of school (field trips, picnics, ice cream social, etc) and by far one of Brett's favorites is field day! Camden and I joined Brett again this year for this event and we had such a great time watching him in action. And Brett was so happy to have us there with him!!

This hoola hoop game is definitely one of my favorites to watch. The kids hold hands in a circle and then have to pass the hoola hoop without letting go!

Go Carolyn!

SMILE!

Camden was content to just stay in his stroller and watch. There was so much to see!

It  was a little cool out, but the water games were still a huge hit!

And one of the best parts of field day? Popsicles of course!!

Brett didn't want Camden to be left out, so he went and got him one too  :-) Such a great big brother!!

The Potato Sack relay race was another favorite!

Afterwards, Brett's teacher hosted a pizza party for the students and their families...and I couldn't help but snap a picture of Camden's excitement as he sat with the big kids! He was pretty popular among the first graders too and Brett loved showing him off!

And here is a picture of Brett and his teacher, Mrs. Weid, on the last day of school!

The afternoon of the last day of school, the library hosts a huge "Summer Kickoff to Reading" party with games, crafts, a bounce house, and snow cones! Last year a group of us started a tradition of eating lunch at Jet's pizza and then heading to the library afterwards for a crazy fun afternoon! Below is picture of some of the kids posing for a picture after mowing down on pizza. We had such a fun day and love having such a great group of friends to make these milestones even more memorable!

Happy Summer everyone!!

Outside Fun!

We have been loving this weather and thoroughly enjoying our new yard! It's crazy to think that last year at this time we were in the process of selling our house and beginning a summer that would consist of moving 3 times in 5 months! So thankful to be settled again so we can fully enjoy this time of year again!

These two! They spend every waking moment that they can together and their imaginations soar. Here they are writing and illustrating books about "Baby Blob" :-) They did this for over an hour and their laughter was contagious!

Our happy little guy practicing his T-ball skills.....

.....and helping out in our vegetable garden :-)

Brett showing off his finished "Baby Blob" book to Kyle.

Sprinkler Time!!!

Camden loves his water table! Here he is scrubbing it clean and getting WET! :-)

Another favorite outdoor pass time is looking for bugs! And of course, Camden has to everything his big brother does. Love this time of year and am so excited for summer break to start....TOMORROW!

Happy Summer!!

Family Fun in Dexter!

Life has been so busy lately that by the time the boys are in bed and I have time to blog, I'm just too tired! I love going back and remembering our adventures though, so I'm trying to at least update once in a while! This particular outing was such a fun, spur of the moment, 'we need to get our of the house' activity which are often the best kind! We headed to Dexter for an afternoon of ice cream, fun at the park, and dinner at A&W!

After eating our yummy ice cream at the Dairy Queen, we crossed the street to play in the huge gazebo. The boys had a blast running around and being silly!

We then walked to Mill Creek to wade in the water, explore, and throw rocks!

After playing by the water for over an hour, the boys had some fun on the playground and then we were off to A&W for dinner....yum! Such a fun afternoon :-)

These little outings are the perfect time to reconnect as a family without the distractions of friends, housework, and the never ending 'to-do' list!
