Field Day and the Last Day of School!

Wow, did this year fly by or what! I honestly cannot believe that come September, we will have a second grader on our hands! Brett struggled a little more this year and some of his quirks became more apparent, but because of the amazing staff at North Creek, we all got through it together. I can honestly say that we couldn't have hand picked a more caring or dedicated teacher for Brett than Mrs. Weid. She communicated regularly with us on how Brett was doing, was a constant cheerleader, showing him and us how proud she was of him every time he made personal strides, and most importantly, never gave up on him. The social worker, Mrs. Yu, was another amazing asset to Brett this year, and we are beyond grateful for the support she gave him and our family. Brett worked hard this year and we are so proud of all he has learned and accomplished!

There are always so many fun activities the last few weeks of school (field trips, picnics, ice cream social, etc) and by far one of Brett's favorites is field day! Camden and I joined Brett again this year for this event and we had such a great time watching him in action. And Brett was so happy to have us there with him!!

This hoola hoop game is definitely one of my favorites to watch. The kids hold hands in a circle and then have to pass the hoola hoop without letting go!

Go Carolyn!

SMILE!

Camden was content to just stay in his stroller and watch. There was so much to see!

It  was a little cool out, but the water games were still a huge hit!

And one of the best parts of field day? Popsicles of course!!

Brett didn't want Camden to be left out, so he went and got him one too  :-) Such a great big brother!!

The Potato Sack relay race was another favorite!

Afterwards, Brett's teacher hosted a pizza party for the students and their families...and I couldn't help but snap a picture of Camden's excitement as he sat with the big kids! He was pretty popular among the first graders too and Brett loved showing him off!

And here is a picture of Brett and his teacher, Mrs. Weid, on the last day of school!

The afternoon of the last day of school, the library hosts a huge "Summer Kickoff to Reading" party with games, crafts, a bounce house, and snow cones! Last year a group of us started a tradition of eating lunch at Jet's pizza and then heading to the library afterwards for a crazy fun afternoon! Below is picture of some of the kids posing for a picture after mowing down on pizza. We had such a fun day and love having such a great group of friends to make these milestones even more memorable!

Happy Summer everyone!!
