A Special Trip for a Special Boy!

Earlier this summer, Kyle came to me with an idea....."I've been thinking, how would you feel if I took Brett to NYC for a couple days? Ya know, a special trip, just the two of us." I could barely contain my excitement for them as I blurted out "YES! Go for it!!! What a wonderful, amazing idea, honey!". Kyle has gone on many work trips over the years, and Brett has always told him that he wanted to go on one with him some day.  Brett isn't old enough to go on an actual work trip, so Kyle did the next best thing, a special trip just for them! Brett has also always wanted to go "to the big city" so it was a no brainer as to where they should go. As cheesy as this sounds, I think I fell a little more in love with Kyle after hearing this idea. I mean, can we say AMAZING DAD or what?!  Brett was so excited when Kyle told him about their upcoming adventure and he had lots of questions as to what they would do. We told him in June, and the trip wasn't until August, so it was hard at times to wait and he often talked about it throughout the summer. And then, finally, the day came to take off!

They sure did a lot in the two and a half days they were there! They went to Central Park, visited the zoo, saw the views from the top of the Empire State Building one night, explored the Intrepid Museum where there is an actual museum inside an Aircraft Carrier, went to the Natural History Museum, enjoyed real NYC pizza, and visited the Grand Central Station! I'm clearly not a big city person because even just thinking about all those activities makes me tired so I was happy to stay home and have a quiet weekend with Camden :-) Below are some of the pictures Kyle took while on their special weekend together. Enjoy!

At the airport, giddy with excitement!

On the plane and ready to fly!

Kyle said that scheduling meals took up half the trip!

Exploring the big city!

You know you're in the big city when you take a cab everywhere!

Kyle snapped this pictures on 5th Avenue where literally everyone was playing Pokemon Go. Crazy!

That evening they ventured to the Empire State Building, The views were amazing....but the lines to get there? Not so much! Brett was exhausted by this point!

Did I mention these pictures are out of order? Below are some shots of these two checking out the Central Park Zoo earlier in the day.

Yana and Papa (my parents) gave Brett some money to take to NYC to buy something special....and what do you think our boy bought? A Lego set of course!

Welcome Aboard to the Intrepid Museum! You can tell this was one of their favorite activities because of the amount of pictures Kyle took!

Another favorite? The Natural History Museum!

They were both exhausted by the end of the trip, so it was a huge bonus when they found these computers to play on while they waited for their flight.

And lastly, I love this black and white shot of Brett while they waited for the shuttle. He was tired and ready to get a good night's sleep in his own bed.

I love that Kyle and Brett were able to take this special trip together, a memory that will hopefully stay with them forever!!
